What makes Reset Connect events sustainable?

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Here’s how we lead the way:

  • Venues - Both the Royal Armouries in Leeds and Excel London operate on 100% renewable energy and hold leading sustainability accreditations, with strong commitments to waste reduction, energy efficiency and responsible event practices
  • Low/No emission suppliers - We work with suppliers with minimal emissions, reusable materials, digital options and eco-friendly designs that are part of the Better Stands Initiative
  • Emission monitoring and offsetting - We consciously monitor unavoidable emissions and offset them through our offsetting partners Cnaught, Green Circle Solutions, One Tribe and Treeapp.
  • Eco-friendly travel - We encourage low-carbon travel choices and support visitors in calculating their carbon footprint with Green Circle Solutions

  • Attendee contributions and waste reduction - We encourage the use of public transport and waste minimisation
  • Certification and ethics - We are currently carbon neutral and have signed up for the Net Zero Carbon Event Pledge
  • Social Impact - Our content helps businesses create a positive impact

Our sustainability strategy is built around 5 key goals

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) | UN Office for Sustainable Development

1. Educate and Inspire - We equip attendees, exhibitors and partners with actionable tools and insights, fostering Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Clean Water & Sanitation (SDG 6) and Responsible Consumption & Production (SDG 12).

2. Support Sustainable Growth - We provide a platform for sustainable solutions to scale, encouraging Decent Work & Economic Growth (SDG 8), Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure (SDG 9) and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).

3. Minimise Our Footprint - We evaluate every decision, from suppliers to signage to venues, we aim to advance Clean Energy (SDG 7), Sustainable Cities (SDG 11), Responsible Consumption & Production (SDG 12) and Climate Action (SDG 13).

4. Maintain Transparency - We openly share our data, methodologies and challenges to strengthen this.

5. To Align With Global Standards - As signatories of the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge and the Better Stands Initiative, we are committed to achieving industry-wide net zero by 2050. We drive Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure (SDG 9), Sustainable Cities (SDG 11) and Climate Action (SDG 13) across the events sector and wider industries.

At Reset Connect, we are dedicated to educating and uniting businesses and industries to transition towards a more sustainable model as we move towards net zero.

This means doing our part too...

Since 2022, we’ve embedded sustainability into every aspect of our events. From the Better Stands Initiative (piloted in 2023 and now adopted by 400+ events) to reducing our environmental footprint, we lead by example. Our Sustainability & Impact Report shares the achievements, lessons learned and partnerships that made the 2025 edition of Reset Connect London more sustainable and impactful.

Explore the full report below:

Reset Connect London has proven that large-scale events can be delivered sustainably, transparently and with meaningful impact. While travel remains our largest source of emissions, careful selection of venues, suppliers and operational processes allowed us to minimise other environmental impacts. Working with our partners and attendees, we reduced our footprint while maximising positive outcomes.

Although reduction remains our primary strategy, we offset unavoidable emissions through a diversified portfolio of high-integrity projects, ensuring we remain carbon neutral while supporting ecosystem restoration and community development worldwide.

But the power of events lies beyond the footprint of a single conference. Events influence behaviours, supply chains and industry norms. At Reset Connect London, we align with initiatives such as the Net Zero Carbon Events pledge and use our platform to demonstrate what is possible.

Most importantly, Reset Connect London is driving cultural change. By convening businesses, policymakers and investors and embedding sustainability into every detail, we amplify climate action far beyond our walls. Together, we are not only reducing emissions today but also shaping the net zero economy of tomorrow.

Measures taken for 2025

Venue

For our flagship events, we partner with Excel London and the Royal Armouries Leeds, both leaders in sustainable event practices.

Excel London is carbon-neutral, runs on 100% renewable electricity, offsets gas, fuel, water and waste, and operates the UK’s largest commercial wormery. Royal Armouries Leeds holds top sustainability certifications and prioritises energy efficiency, waste reduction and responsible operations.

Low/No Emission Suppliers
All suppliers have been chosen for zero or minimal emissions by using reusable stands, furniture, living floral features, digital over print and removing carpet on areas with low dwell times. All materials are reusable, compostable or recyclable.

Travelling and Sequestration
We make every effort to minimise our environmental impact by reducing our emissions as much as possible. For any emissions that cannot be mitigated, we are compensating through investment in carbon capture and removal projects.

Social Impact
With all content aimed at helping businesses obtain the tools and insights they need to create a positive impact within their organisations, this also serves as a social impact contribution for Reset Connect. We are currently looking at how best to measure this impact.

Attendee Contributions

We encourage all participants to be conscious of their carbon footprint when transporting goods and staff and to prioritise local resources whenever possible.

We request exhibitors be mindful of the giveaways and materials on their stands to avoid unnecessary waste.

Waste Reduction

Single-use plastics are minimised through water fountains across both venues. Badges and lanyards are collected for recycling and reuse and three-stream recycling points are available throughout the event spaces.

Both Excel London and Royal Armouries demonstrate strong leadership in operational sustainability, ensuring waste is managed responsibly.

Better Stands Initiative

Better Stand Initiative

We are proud to be part of the Better Stands Initiative, an industry pilot programme aimed at ensuring all core elements of exhibitor stands are reusable. This initiative significantly enhances the sustainability of the exhibitor experience by:

  • Eliminating Disposable Stands: Traditionally, many stands are constructed from poor quality raw materials, used once and then sent to landfill. The Better Stands Initiative seeks to put an end to this wasteful practice.

  • Promoting Reusability: By focusing on reusable stands, we improve the ease and safety of constructing stands, while drastically reducing waste and environmental impact.

  • Defining a Better Stand: Stands are categorised based on the reusability and recyclability of their elements. A stand failing to meet the bronze level criteria is classified as disposable.

Certification & Ethics

 LCAW Ethos

London Climate Action Week | LinkedIn

To align with the ethos of London Climate Action Week, Reset Connect follows the following ethical guidelines:

CNaught

Get trustworthy carbon credits in seconds

CNaught Certificate of Voluntary Carbon Action confirms that Reset Connect purchased offsets equivalent to 70,000kg of CO₂e in 2025. These offsets were invested across multiple verified global projects, all certified under leading standards.

These global projects include:

  • Istanbul Landfill Gas-to-Electricity in Turkey - Captures methane from waste and converts it into renewable power for the local grid, preventing harmful greenhouse gases
  • Titas Gas Leak Repair in Bangladesh - Stops methane leaks from gas pipelines, improving air quality, enhancing safety and preventing a major source of emissions

1Tribe

                                                             1Tribe logo

We have partnered with One Tribe to integrate their carbon calculator and offsetting programme into our exhibitor journey. Sustainability is now included in all exhibition stages, thus allowing exhibitors to gain insights into the emissions linked to participating in Reset Connect.

  • Instead of just offsetting in 2025, we are pooling contributions across 2025 and 2026 to fund a larger rainforest protection project
  • This approach delivers greater impact and ensures measurable carbon benefits aligned with the Paris Agreement and UN Sustainable Development Goals
