Yixian Sun

Yixian Sun is Associate Professor in International Development at the University of Bath, United Kingdom and a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow. As an expert on environmental governance and sustainable development, his research explores the changing role of emerging economies in global environmental and climate governance. Currently, he leads the SGAIN project - a GBP 1.7 million research programme studying sustainability governance of China’s global infrastructure investments. Yixian is the author of Certifying China (MIT Press, 2022) and has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact scientific journals including. He is an associate editor of Global Environmental Politics and World Development Perspectives. He is also a member of the Scientific Steering Committee for the Earth System Governance project - the world’s largest research alliances on global environmental change and governance. Since 2021, Yixian has served as a member of the Expert Peer Review Group (EPRG) for the UN-supported campaign Race to Zero and is a Co-Chair of the Race to Zero EPRG’s Working Group on Fair share, Equity and Justice.
