Tom Cox is the founder of Decent Energy, a UK-based software company helping households and businesses get more value from energy-smart appliances such as solar inverters, batteries, EV chargers and heat pumps, enabling consumer flexibility trading and working to develop the worlds decentralised energy grid.

His work focuses on making energy systems more intelligent, flexible and interoperable, enabling devices from different manufacturers to work together and respond to local energy needs. Through Decent Energy, Tom and his team are building software that supports better local energy management, helps optimise how appliances are used, and helps unlock flexibility across the low-carbon energy system.

Before founding Decent Energy, Tom worked as a technology consultant across the energy, retail, hospitality, telecommunications and technology sectors, with a particular interest in how software can accelerate digital transformation and improve operational efficiency.
