Steven Martin is Managing Director of Smartcool Systems, a specialist engineering company focused on improving building performance, reducing energy consumption and extending the operational life of critical plant and equipment. With over 30 years’ experience across the built environment, Steven has worked with organisations to identify practical opportunities for energy reduction, operational efficiency and carbon savings within existing building stock. His work spans commercial property, industrial facilities, public sector estates and specialist environments, supporting clients to balance sustainability ambitions with operational and financial realities.

Steven is particularly interested in the role that optimisation, maintenance and retrofit solutions can play in accelerating the transition to a lower-carbon built environment. As the sustainability agenda continues to evolve, Steven is passionate about helping organisations move beyond aspiration and towards measurable action. He believes that collaboration between technology providers, property professionals, policymakers and end users will be critical in delivering meaningful progress across the built environment.
