Savvas Tassou

Professor of Energy Engineering, Brunel University
Savvas Tassou is Professor of Energy Engineering and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Energy Use in Food Chains (CSEF). He has substantial academic and research management experience in the areas of Energy, thermal environment control and sustainable food systems. Over the years he held a number of senior positions at Brunel University of London including, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, (2001-2004), Head of School of Engineering and Design (2004-2014) and Director of the Institute of Energy Futures (2014-2024).

For more than 20 years, he has been at the forefront of research and development into energy demand reduction, working closely with industry and attracting substantial research funding from the UK Research Councils, Innovate UK and the EU to support the work.

In 2013, after a national competition he established CSEF, one of 6 national End Use Energy Demand Centres, focusing on Energy Demand and Emissions Reduction in Food Chains.
