Paul Addison

Director of Policy & External Affairs , GB Energy

Director of Policy and External Affairs, and a member of the executive leadership team at Great British Energy. He leads GBE’s policy, strategy and sustainability agenda, as well as its comms and external affairs work.

Paul previously served as a policy adviser to the Opposition Treasury Team in the run-up to the General Election, shaping infrastructure, planning and investment policy. He led the 2024 Major Capital Projects Review for the Labour Party, designing proposals for a 10-year national infrastructure strategy and the creation of the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority.

Before this, at Arup he established the Urban Transport Review, advocating for a UK-wide National Transport Strategy, and directed the post-HS2 campaign ‘Opportunity through Connectivity’, calling for a new rail link between the West Midlands and the North West.

Paul was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2021. He has received awards for policy and communications campaigns, including at Siemens for developing Made Smarter, the national programme helping small manufacturers adopt digital technology. At Yorkshire Building Society, he created the award-winning coalition of banks that launched UK Savings Week in 2022.
