Nicola Hutchinson
Director of Conservation & Deputy Chief Executive,
Plantlife
With a background in ecology and over two decades of hands-on experience in species recovery, biodiversity policy, science and advocacy, Nicola is at the forefront of shaping and leading impactful conservation programmes in the UK and globally. As the leader of Plantlife’s conservation team, she champions a vision where nature recovery is driven by the people who are most connected to the land - farmers, local communities, and businesses – to ensure that the future of our natural world is both sustainable and deeply rooted in those who care for it. Passionate about measurable success, Nicola believes that true environmental progress is defined by tangible improvements in the fortunes of species, particularly wild plants and fungi. She has also served as trustee and vice-chair of Wildlife and Countryside Link.
