Nic Spicer is the founder of mc2 Transition Partners, an advisory firm operating at the intersection of the energy transition and finance, focused on facilitating the deployment of clean, affordable and secure energy infrastructure. He previously spent 17 years in finance and investments, including many years focused on sustainable investing, before completing a Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Futures at Imperial College London, graduating with Distinction.


Nic’s work sits at the interface of energy, finance and climate. Through mc2 Transition Partners, he supports energy-transition businesses and market participants with strategic insight, commercial positioning and a deep understanding of how energy markets, policy and finance interact, with a particular focus on renewable generation and battery energy storage. His academic work includes quantitative analysis of the climate impacts of battery energy storage systems in Great Britain.


Prior to moving full-time into clean energy, Nic held senior leadership roles at a global fintech and asset-management business, where he served as UK Head of Investments and managing director of the FCA-regulated asset-management entity. He is a qualified actuary and a CFA® charterholder.
