Malithi Hennayake
Milly is a civil engineer by background working in the Arup water business. She has experience ranging from flood risk management, masterplanning projects, SuDS, water, sewerage company asset management and adaptation planning. Influenced by her experience in International Development projects and specifically her time with Kounkuey Design Initiative in Nairobi, she values the importance of fit for purpose solutions that meet the needs of the community. She's is invested in place based design and participatory design with community members.
Her interests has developed into long term resilience and adaptation to better enable the water sector and communities to adapt to and mitigate against the challenges presented by climate change. One of her developing interests is the implementation of regenerative design and what this means especially in an urban environment. As a Trustee of Engineers Without Borders UK, Milly is passionate about the need for engineers and built environment professionals to be Globally Responsible so that we can respond to the challenges faced by our planet.
