John is a Senior Conservation Evidence Officer at the Woodland Trust, where he leads the development of applied conservation research that bridges science, policy and practice. Since joining in 2021, he has focused on strengthening academic-practitioner partnerships and embedding robust evidence into conservation and nature restoration projects.

With a background in soil science, John’s earlier research explored carbon dynamics and the impacts of climate change on plant-soil interactions. This expertise underpins his current work, which increasingly focuses on climate resilience and the role of woodland creation and management in delivering nature recovery at a landscape scale.
