Jerome Baddley
Jerome is a Chartered Environmentalist, with over 20 years of leadership and delivery experience at a regional, national, and international level. Committed to evidence-driven and systemic change in environmental sustainability. Currently Sustainability Director for Center Parcs UK and Ireland, the UKs leading short break provider. Center Parcs’ 6 forest villages in the UK and Ireland welcome over 2 million guests per year. Jerome leads on sustainability across the business. This includes ensuring that the rigor applied to regulatory reporting, such as CFD, SRS and on the Net Zero journey supports and underpins Center Parcs vision and values around sustainability. Center Parcs has recently adopted a core purpose of ‘Building Better Worlds’, for guests, colleagues, communities & environment.
Over the years Jerome led on groundbreaking initiatives across several sectors, including the development of the first full, Sc1,2 & 3, carbon footprints for UK healthcare organisations, writing the UKs first city-wide energy and carbon strategy and leading a national award-winning IT training programme for disabled people.
Previously, as Head of Unit for the Sustainable Development Unit for the NHS, Health and Social care system in England, Jerome led a team delivering work across a broad spectrum of sustainable development and social value in health and social care. This work helped to embed sustainability as part of core business for the NHS.
Following work with the UK heath and care system, he spent 2 years as an advisor on carbon reduction and environmental strategy to the healthcare operations of the Aga Khan Development Network. This covered services across 9 Low and Middle-Income Countries in East Africa, Central and Southern Asia. He developed tools, now endorsed by the WHO, to support health systems in LMICs to calculate, report and manage GHG emissions. With colleagues he worked to raise awareness of the need for greater North/South collaboration in sustainable healthcare. In 2019 Jerome was recognised by the Society for the Environment as Environmental Professional of the Year.
