James Whitehead

CEO , International Tree Foundation

James has over twenty five years’ experience in development and environmental work bridging community-led local action and international policy across multiple regions. He is the CEO of the International Tree Foundation and a trustee of the Art of Forests. He is also COO for Rewriting Extinction, an environmental communication charity. James was previously the Director of Forest Peoples Programme, an organisation supporting the rights of forest peoples globally. Prior to that he was Oxfam GB's Global Innovation Lead supporting creative solutions to overcoming poverty. He managed Oxfam's programmes in Middle East before which he was International Director for Progressio, an international NGO. He is passionate about addressing challenges at the nexus of human development, climate change and biodiversity.
