Ilsa Ruiz Hughes
Ilsa Ruiz Hughes is a strategic public affairs leader with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of climate, conservation, corporate sustainability, and social impact. She currently leads communications for global carbon markets at The Nature Conservancy, contributing to advance market-based solutions that mobilize private capital for nature and climate outcomes.
Prior to joining The Nature Conservancy, she led communications for the CEO Water Mandate, a partnership between the UN Global Compact and the Pacific Institute. Before that she was Chief of External Affairs for FEMSA Foundation, where she oversaw strategic communications, partnerships, finance, and water stewardship initiatives across Latin America. Throughout her career, she has advised senior executives, boards, and cross-sector coalitions on reputation, stakeholder engagement, thought leadership, and complex change initiatives.
Her work has contributed to major international discussions on climate, water security, conservation and sustainable development, bringing together investors, corporations, policymakers, and civil society to accelerate impact at scale.
