David Macdonald
David Macdonald founded The Path as a movement to disrupt the financial planning industry and improve sustainability through positive impact investment.
During a brief retirement it became obvious to David that the power of savings had a potentially huge role to play in saving the planet from global warming. There followed some serious philosophical debate and reflection on his values and purpose in life it became apparent that not only he, but most people wanted to make a contribution to combat climate change. And that through their savings there could be a powerful force for change if harnessed correctly. It was also clear that financial services had become lazy and was not following this zeitgeist. Indeed the current set-up is financing the very companies that were causing the most damage and doing little to encourage those who were a force for good. With those thoughts in mind David and a dedicated and tech-savvy team are funding what is hoped will be a real vanguard of change to create a “new normal” of positive impact to give the planet real hope as well as providing superior investment returns.
A serial entrepreneur he is a thought-leader who has been followed as the industry has created opportunities through change. His 30 years in financial services have been in a dynamic period as regulation and commercial considerations have transformed the industry. Over the past 12 years David built a successful Senior Partner practice with a national wealth management group and ended up with a fantastic cohort of clients and a loyal and dedicated team to look after them. During that time he also attained the industry “gold standard” qualification of Chartered Financial Planner.
David is the inventor of the “TLC” process which is becoming an established way of conveying the three key elements of a financial plan. During the years when he was prepared to fly he was a regular motivational speaker in the UK, US and Dubai.
