Widely recognised as a pioneer of sustainable hospitality, Christian has spent decades championing environmentally responsible tourism and has served as an advisor to the United Nations and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Christian opened Jaya House in 2016, Cambodia’s first plastic-free hotel. The property gained international recognition for its commitment to reducing waste, supporting local communities and delivering measurable environmental impact, whilst simultaneously achieving the accolade of the “world’s number 1 guest rated hotel” on TripAdvisor – a pioneering industry example of the fact that sustainability and luxury guest experiences can successfully coexist and thrive.
Christian is also the founder of the Refill Not Landfill campaign, an award-winning initiative that has been adopted by hotels, destinations and tourism businesses globally to reduce single-use plastic waste. Beyond his environmental work, he has been a passionate advocate for local economic development, supporting Cambodian artisans, social enterprises and community-led projects that create lasting social impact.
