Anish Malpani

Founder , Without

Anish Malpani is the founder of Without®, building a circular materials company in Pune, India that turns the plastic and textile waste no one else can recycle into virgin-grade materials, while graduating former waste-pickers into dignified manufacturing jobs.

He believes capitalism is the most powerful system humans have built, and the most distorted. His life's work is to help reform it, making profit a tool for the wellbeing of people and planet. Without is the proof point.

After five years in corporate finance in New York, Anish quit in 2017. "I realised I was making the rich richer while becoming a worse version of myself." Four years across Guatemala, Kenya, London and Dubai followed, before landing in Pune in 2019 with a clearer thesis: waste and poverty are the same problem.

He founded Without® in 2020. It now holds patented chemo-mechanical recycling tech for multi-layered plastic and mixed textiles, runs a first-of-its-kind demo plant, has formalised former waste-pickers into employment with ESOPs, and is preparing its first commercial plant for 2028.

Anish is a Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellow (2026), Acumen Fellow (2025), and Global Good Fund Fellow (2025).
