To reach climate and nature goals by 2030, we must address the single largest driver of biodiversity loss, CO2 emissions and land-use change: our global food system. Decarbonising the food sector requires more than just incremental shifts; it demands a radical acceleration of food-tech innovation. Drawing on first-hand data from the ProVeg Incubator - the world’s first and leading alternative protein-focused incubator - this session explores the frontline of the protein transition. Having supported 130+ start-ups across 38 countries that have raised over $500Mn, we share the systemic trends shaping 2026: from molecular farming to clean labels to upcycled ingredients. This talk will move beyond the burger to discuss how we support resilient start-ups in bridging the 'valley of death', the infrastructure and capital investment needed to reach mass-market parity, and how diversifying our protein supply is the ultimate lever for restoring natural ecosystems.
