On-orbit AI for on-ground solutions
Effective climate disaster mitigation is often impacted by reactivity—delivering critical information to decision-makers before it's too late. While Earth Observation satellites have long provided the data, traditional ground-based processing workflows create delays. Now, the convergence of space tech and Artificial Intelligence (AI) unlocks a new capability: on-orbit processing. By analyzing data directly in space, satellites can filter out noise and transmit only essential insights to ground teams in near real-time. This presentation will explore how edge computing in space aids crisis management and supports long-term environmental sustainability.
