Harnessing Wastewater to Power Clean Industry
Food and beverage manufacturers are under severe pressure from rising effluent, water and energy costs, with average net margins of around 11% leaving little room to absorb further increases. For many sites, wastewater is no longer just an environmental issue - it is a cost centre that threatens competitiveness, growth and, in some cases, survival.
Pipeline Organics is developing next-generation biofuel cell technology to help future-proof food and beverage operations by turning high-strength wastewater into a source of resilience, cost reduction and resource reuse. In this session, Andrew Raslan and Keyvan Jodeiri will explain how Pipeline Organics’ containerised, 3D-printed biofuel cell systems use microbes to remove organic pollutants from wastewater while generating useful energy on-site.
The core objective is practical and commercial: reduce the operating and financial burdens that are putting food and beverage sites at risk of shutdown, while also delivering environmental and energy benefits as part of a more resilient industrial model.
