From Carbon Dashboards to Carbon Decisions: How AI Can Help Employees Choose Lower-Emission Business Travel
Most companies now have better carbon data than ever, but the hard part is turning that data into day-to-day decisions. Business travel is a useful example: it is highly visible, commercially necessary, emotionally sensitive for employees, and often one of the more controllable Scope 3 categories.
This session will explore how AI and decision-support tools can move sustainability teams beyond retrospective reporting and into practical intervention: predicting the carbon, cost and traveller-experience impact of different journeys; identifying where lower-emission alternatives are realistic; and nudging employees at the point of decision without creating friction or unrealistic policies.
The talk will cover what makes travel emissions difficult to reduce, where AI can genuinely help, and where it cannot. It will also share examples of how organisations can use data to balance carbon, cost, policy compliance and employee experience — moving from “measure and report” to “predict, intervene and prove impact”.
