Many local authorities struggle to cost-effectively identify and triage suitable sites for energy projects. Project opportunities are missed and those that are selected face lengthy delays trying to access network capacity information, model energy demand, estimate carbon avoidance and assess the feasibility of potential sites.
It is expected that most local authorities will need to have plans and project pipelines in place within the next few years to deliver against ambitious net zero targets. An eight-fold increase in low carbon technology deployment rates is required to meet net zero targets.
