Nova Pangaea Technologies

Nova Pangaea is a clean technology company headquartered in Teesside and has developed REFNOVA®, a proprietary patented second generation (2G) carbon negative production process to convert woody and non-food derived agricultural residues into high value products 2G bioethanol and biochar. The 2G bioethanol is to be processed into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The biochar is a form of permanent carbon removal, and can also be used in compost to improve soil quality, and is a strong and lightweight material used in concrete, asphalt and composite materials, as well as for water filtration.

Nova Pangaea is backed by IAG/British Airways with its first showcase projects in the UK to supply SAF to British Airways. Nova Pangaea's demonstration plant on Teesside has proven the technology in an operational environment. The next steps are to further develop this facility as a reference facility, and progress engineering design for the first commercial scale plant.

SAF is key to enabling the decarbonisation of aviation globally and Nova Pangaea will license its technology to scale up production of 2G bioethanol and SAF in other regions where biomass residue is widely available.
