Excel London
Since opening our doors more than 20 years ago, Excel London - with the backing of ADNEC - has firmly established itself as one of the UK's leading international exhibition and conference centres.
Yet this success is not just down to providing world-class facilities. We encourage, our staff, event organisers and exhibitors to share our wider purpose of creating a positive impact on the local community and the world around us. We truly believe in caring for our people and our planet.
More importantly, our aim is to use our platform - and the four million people who grace our venue every year - to inform and inspire others to play their part in tackling the climate emergency.
In December 2024, we published our Sustainability Report 2023-2024, which recognises the initiatives and strong contributions made from Excel’s employees, partners, clients and stakeholders in contributing to its wider ESG efforts.
Highlights include the introduction of carbon food labelling on menus, allowing clients and visitors to make better-informed choices, and the transition of our fleet of plant and equipment from diesel to electric or hybrid. Other key achievements include a new waste management strategy working with Bywaters, which commits to a 75% recycling rate by end of 2025 and year-on-year waste volume reductions. Meanwhile, we also gained ISO 27001 certification, ensuring effective information security across the business, and a partnership with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme to train all public-facing employees to better support visitors.
This year, we are focused on launching our Net Zero Transition Plan. We have already made significant decarbonisation progress through initiatives such as transitioning to 100% renewable electricity and HVO biodiesel, installing energy-efficient LED digital screens throughout the venue, and operating a zero waste-to-landfill policy for over a decade. Our transition plan will be aligned with the SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard and revises our target date, backed by a series of long-term decarbonisation initiatives that address Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. To support our customers on their net zero journeys, we've chosen TRACE as our preferred carbon measurement platform partner. Brought to you by Isla, the event industry's response to the climate crisis, TRACE, the definitive carbon measurement platform for events, helps measure and minimise carbon in real-time.
