EarthScale

Stand: IH6
Launched in April 2025, EarthScale is a national programme helping turn science and discovery into green jobs. We support IP-rich climate tech ventures to scale, navigate manufacturing and raise Series A funding.  EarthScale is powered by a network of universities across the UK, including Imperial College (lead), Cranfield University, the University of Derby, the University of Exeter, the University of Leeds, and the University of Nottingham.  The programme is co-funded by the Research England Development Fund until 2028.

The Priestley Centre for Climate Futures is the Northern Hub for EarthScale.  This is a world-leading climate centre based at the University of Leeds. From local to global, we ensure that climate action is informed by the latest research, collaborating with organisations and individuals to transform our expertise into real-world impact. We connect our more than 200 climate experts to businesses, policymakers, communities, and other researchers. Our experts have leading roles in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the UK Climate Change Committee, and provide independent, robust and timely evidence to support decision makers.

 Our research spans the following areas:
• Improving predictions of future climate;
• Understanding risk to develop a resilient world;
• Enabling low carbon transitions;
• Addressing the social, political and economic dimensions of climate change.

The Centre actively promotes climate innovations and climate-related entrepreneurship in partnership with Nexus.
